The Tour de France celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2003 and a hundredth edition in 2013. It owes its existence to Géo Lefèvre, a journalist, Cycling enthusiast who suggested to Henri Desgrange, director of The Auto, create the Six Days of the Road, in the form of a race by Stages connecting the main cities of the Hexagon. The draft was adopted in November 1902, during a working lunch at the Zimmer Tavern, Renamed the "Madrid" and then "Friday's", where a plaque commemorated The birth of "the biggest sporting competition in the world"
